The will is all that one can rely on, in the end. Not bodies, minds, friends or family. In the end, you are left with your drive and your will to survive, and to make this world accommodate your will.

It makes me wonder who you are, if you understand that.

is there really such a scarcity of strong-willed people here? we're supposed to be fighters. this bodes terribly for our future.

people like to be morally correct when it costs them little to nothing, don't they? but when it's your loved ones at risk, or your life, or any of the other things that prop up pride and legacy or just existing for another day, it's harder. it's ugly. without exception, it'll cost everything and you won't even be alive to see the result of that hard work.

so i guess what i'm saying is i understand why people like that are few and far between. why it's important that they hold the line, as it were. but i also don't think it's fair that they should carry the weight of everyone's trust on their shoulders alone.

I agree. It's combining those forces that makes society tremble, when they find their place working as one.

They shouldn't carry that, of course. They must, however. That is the point of it, isn't it? To be willing to take that on oneself? They are called monsters to greater society, but they're the ones that change history, break cycles and fortunes, all for what they see as necessary.

If they didn't, then what would be left in the end? Quiet complacency. Meek cooperation. It is not comfortable to stand against the tide. However, they must.

Is it luck? I've never found that luck comes through when it matters the most. It's yet another answer for the truth: that we are all the sum of our motivations.

To be left behind? Is to be the unluckiest of all, unless one is able to take that, and use it to make better of themselves, of their place.

If you think seeking death is pathetic, then you are already following your motivations. Even the will to survive is something, isn't it?

there isn't meaning to living for the sake of it. a meaningless life that impacts nothing, influences nothing, helps nothing — why keep going?

in that respect, death is the only service they can perform.
