This is Muramasa.
Just before we left last month, I was given leave to keep a smithy on the premises of the base in Kyoto. It's functional now, so the lot of you using blades from our employer need to come have a proper edge put on them. Don't dawdle: you're embarrassing me, walking around like that as it is with those things. Same goes for those of you with personal blades that need upkeep.
[ now, time for the announcement of the grand opening of peepaw's sword emporium. Sort of. ]
Now, if you just want a proper blade of your own for our work here, and I've got a finished one on hand, you can have it if you pay me back for those materials. (Don't do anything stupid with it — they're swords, not toys.) Or, if katana ain't your style and you want something special, or you'd like a matching set, I can do that too. I'll have to test ya so I can see what suits you, plus I'll be charging you for materials and time away from my own work, but it's a properly forged sword made by a master, and you can't beat that price these days.
[ nobody would be so shifty as to start selling those swords on an underground, black market, right? definitely not. ]
And before I forget—Kuzunoha, Laios. You two come see me at the smithy when you're free, regarding the work we talked about before.
[ He already talked to you boys about blades, so you're exempt from this decree about payment... but only once.
And lastly, but most importantly: ]
... Tsurumaru-dono, please feel free to come visit as well. I'd like to see how you're holding up, now that there's a proper forge to work in.

I don't imagine human workmanship can hold a candle to a divine weapon, but any improvement's worthwhile in this fight
no subject
[ His own borrowed divinity, distorted and modified as it is, is the only reason it doesn't kill him either. ]
But you just might be surprised what I can do with good iron alone. The last smith god I met let me apprentice with him for a time, 'cause of it.
What'll it be? Custom-made or just fixing up what you've already got?

If you're planning on giving a set out to every girl you meet, I'll have to charge you extra, hah.
[ IS JOKE... mostly. if donnie really did want to rizz up a girl with a sword or two, he'd be behind that 100%. ]
But if I wasn't willing to do the work, I wouldn't be talking to the lot of you; I can do matching pairs, easy. Material would be the only issue if you want identical blades every time.

Muramasa. I’ll remember it.
How accustomed are you to blades of a somewhat magical nature?

Muramasa-san. Are you here?

The sound of hammering, which had been distant on the other side of the barrier, rings out in a steady heartbeat from the open smithy doors on the side of the building and doesn't stop as Muramasa calls out his response to Raidou. ]

Don't worry, I've got a new assistant who is gettin' pretty good at his work. Otherwise, I'd still be up to my eyeballs in uncut charcoal.

[ sigh. ]
I'm gonna need a hell of a lot of iron and one of those giant motor hammers to give your pretty little armor a matching sword. Not to mention a mountain of charcoal.
And you'd have to bring me the supplies up front.

[ He is not one to say no to a blinging weapons upgrade. With all they have going on with everyone disappearing left and right, it wouldn't exactly hurt to be prepared. ]
Moreover, could such a forge be used towards means of creation? Prior to his disappearance, that scientist doctor and I were discussing how to synthesize raw materials with the possibility of creating certain compounds. We did not get very far before the disappearance, but I remain intrigued by the possibilities for upgrading our current technology, both defensive and offensive.
no subject
[ Fresh materials are always a concern, as is keeping his supply of charcoal high enough. ]
... That synthesizer thing? Yeah, we talked about it too. Swords are one thing—I don't need much more than a good fire and raw iron to make something perfect, but I'll need a good blueprint to work from if I'm gonna be making any useful parts for machinery or the like. D'you have specifics in mind?
@justish
no subject
I'd considered trying to incorporate bone into the flux or forging it into the iron itself, but not enough of you have proper weapons to risk wasting good iron this early on a project like that.

I couldn't do much before because I was running on a magical budget, so to speak, but I've got enough to spare now that I can hopefully hone the edge and reinforce your little guy without having to put him back in the fire entirely.

Like the kind people used to use way back in the day with a real forge and stuff?

'S a bit old fashioned for most of you, as I understand it, but it suits me just fine. No need to worry about the power going out, either.
[ Muramasa may have forgotten to reconnect the electricity to the building when he was doing repairs so... yeah... it's fully off grid. ]
