un: forgery; (posted 5-10).
This is Muramasa.
Just before we left last month, I was given leave to keep a smithy on the premises of the base in Kyoto. It's functional now, so the lot of you using blades from our employer need to come have a proper edge put on them. Don't dawdle: you're embarrassing me, walking around like that as it is with those things. Same goes for those of you with personal blades that need upkeep.
[ now, time for the announcement of the grand opening of peepaw's sword emporium. Sort of. ]
Now, if you just want a proper blade of your own for our work here, and I've got a finished one on hand, you can have it if you pay me back for those materials. (Don't do anything stupid with it — they're swords, not toys.) Or, if katana ain't your style and you want something special, or you'd like a matching set, I can do that too. I'll have to test ya so I can see what suits you, plus I'll be charging you for materials and time away from my own work, but it's a properly forged sword made by a master, and you can't beat that price these days.
[ nobody would be so shifty as to start selling those swords on an underground, black market, right? definitely not. ]
And before I forget—Kuzunoha, Laios. You two come see me at the smithy when you're free, regarding the work we talked about before.
[ He already talked to you boys about blades, so you're exempt from this decree about payment... but only once.
And lastly, but most importantly: ]
... Tsurumaru-dono, please feel free to come visit as well. I'd like to see how you're holding up, now that there's a proper forge to work in.

[Like hell he'll waste any more time or money on Kaga anymore, he's got his brother to focus on anyway.]
And that's fine, I've got some money saved since I don't waste it on frivolous stuff.
no subject
[ Because he's fairly certain he knows what those who study that school like in their blades, at this point... ]
Also, it's more about being able to get my hands on enough iron from the same place. I'm good, but metal has its own opinion too, you know? It'll be easiest to convince two blades to take the same shape if they're already brothers from same furnace.
You get me the material to melt down, and I'll only charge you for my time and charcoal. Plus fittings.
no subject
[Or, wait! He thinks up a name for it!]
I guess if it needs a name, Hamato Freestyle.
[Because it's just Leo doing Leo things, in Donnie's opinion.]
I get you, that makes sense. I made a bo staff and to keep everything balanced with it I used titanium from the same source. So I'll be on the look out for the right metals for good katanas.
no subject
We can melt stuff down, too, if need be... It'll just take longer, since I'm working in the forge rather than a proper furnace. That rebar stuff's a fucking pain to get out to begin with, then I gotta cut it, match it, and so on.
no subject
[Yes, Donnie has his brother's stats for this kind of thing. Don't ask why he does have this information.]
Eugh, yeah I won't bring you rebar. That stuff is a pain to work with unless it's construction.
no subject
If you think you can mimic him well enough... so be it.
It's usually pretty homogenous, though, which is what we're looking for. Otherwise, I'll make 'em piece by piece for your brother.
no subject
What. There's no way I can mimic Leo, for one I wasn't trained in blades.
Hm, well. I'll see what I can find for homogenous metals that's not rebar first? I'd prefer to not make it harder for you in the first place.
no subject
Or just pay the money, and I'll do the work and handle the materials myself like intended. It makes no difference to me, kid — I'm not an amateur that needs optimal conditions to turn out good work.
no subject
I don't mind finding the materials. I just know how some metals are more finicky than others, I went through quite a few prototypes of my tech-bo before I landed on what I did.
[He's not insulting Muramasa, at least he doesn't mean to. It's his weird ass way of being like "I respect your work enough to not give you shitty materials to work with".]
no subject
Good news is, we don't gotta prototype anything. Modern iron's a lot purer than the stuff I worked when I was alive, so we're splitting hairs at this point.
[ Muramasa has a feeling this kid is going to really focus on something that he himself had only considered to be a small hurdle. ]
...And I'd rather do the extra work than have that brother of yours go without good blades for too long. We can worry about perfectly identical swords when we've got the leisure time. 'S not like anyone but me will see the difference, anyway.
no subject
[Donnie is the guy who has put trackers in his family, the fact he probably has enough data to possibly do something weird with that info.]
It's less he'll go without, he's got his blades from home, and more having a well made replacement for when he loses them.
no subject
Have him bring those too, I'll give them a once over.
[ Not negotiable. ]
no subject
Oh, how are you with your swords being like... A focus for mystic energy?
[Since Donnie has seen Leo use his swords for teleporting/portalling. So may as well ask.]
no subject
I'm a spirit, kid. Anything I make is already legendary, you know?
no subject
[He has some experience with ghosts and spirits, kind of. If seeing all his ancestors at once after the whole thing with the Shredder counts.]
But no, I wouldn't know.
no subject
Uhhh, sure. Never heard of them.
There's a Muramasa in this world, same as my own. So I got the advantage of being able to lean on my own fame, which gives my work an edge when it comes to dealing with things of a spiritual nature, on top of just being top quality to begin with.
[ Just don't google him. Please. ]
no subject
I mean, yeah you haven't? Ninjas.
... And that's interesting to know.
[He is so going to google you man.]
🎀
Anyway, remember what I said about testing, and send your brother over. More of you want custom work than I was anticipating, so the sooner, the better.
[ Good thing there's that new surge in interest in swords, right? There's all sorts of posts about different swordsmiths and the blades they've made. ]
