Hello. My name is Rin Tohsaka. Yesterday I travelled to the desert in an attempt to locate information that could assist LILITH with research about the kaiju. In my search, I found a large area the locals call Qattara, which is the site of research projects from before the kaiju started appearing. The area is now populated by several large sand crocodiles and the locals refuse to go near it. However as the site may contain information about what has happened with the kaiju attacks I wish to return to see if there is anything worth bringing back. A solo expedition would be incredibly dangerous so I'm hoping to find a few volunteers to go with me. Please let me know if you're interested.

[ there's a short pause and then: ]

Muramasa, you're coming with me. I don't want to hear any arguments.

[ Ughh, this Qattara mission is exactly the kind of front-line stuff that Shinn likes, except that Destiny is hooked up to the power grid keeping the city lit and he doesn't want to be more than a handful of teleportation jumps away from it. When the hell is he going to get to just let loose and chop things up with a giant sword without collateral considerations?

After a few minutes, like he's been debating about how to respond, he finally replies: ]

Get Cagalli to do it. Her mobile suit's not getting hooked up to the power grid, and it can carry a load of people in and out

Don't take too much of the group. We still have to protect Alexandria, and to keep the grid running, and all that

i'm not planning on taking everybody, just the ones who might want to come with to see what we can find. we probably won't need back up from alexandria, but i appreciate the offer!

you'd be surprised. some people might not want to risk a fight with the sand crocodiles or they have other things they need to do, like you. it's certainly not impossible.

LILITH needs to stop dragging over people who don't want to fight kaiju already

and how would you suggest we learn about our enemy if all the people want to do is fight?

Not "fight" like that! Comms and engineers and medics and stuff are fighting, too

[ But, okay, now that he thinks about it... a lot of front-line staff who regularly end up in the thick of ship-to-ship combat would probably rather develop some kind of anti-croc tech than go explore croc-infested ruins themselves. (Actually, Lieutenant Heinlein would probably start developing anti-Shinn tech if Shinn suggested that he go out in the field like that--.) ]

They should still want to be around fighting kaiju

They should get to choose to be part of LILITH

well unfortunately we're not given that choice. we're just given the choice to engage on the frontlines or the sidelines, and that choice should be respected.

Once you've got a set number of participants, let me know. Depending on the total, I might be able to get you guys there and back without much fuss. Too many, and you'll need to figure out another method.

a smaller team would be a better choice. that leaves less of a chance for something to go wrong.

Agreed. Rigging something for the Akatsuki to carry people in or on shouldn't be difficult. It won't be cushy, but it'll get the job done.

if it gets the job done, that's all we need. it's not a vacation, it's reconnaissance!

Yep. Just getting that out there in case someone says anything. I'd say half a dozen would be the upper limit for reference.
