Hello. My name is Rin Tohsaka. Yesterday I travelled to the desert in an attempt to locate information that could assist LILITH with research about the kaiju. In my search, I found a large area the locals call Qattara, which is the site of research projects from before the kaiju started appearing. The area is now populated by several large sand crocodiles and the locals refuse to go near it. However as the site may contain information about what has happened with the kaiju attacks I wish to return to see if there is anything worth bringing back. A solo expedition would be incredibly dangerous so I'm hoping to find a few volunteers to go with me. Please let me know if you're interested.

[ there's a short pause and then: ]

Muramasa, you're coming with me. I don't want to hear any arguments.

[ Shinn has a lot of strong feelings about soldiers are supposed to protect ordinary people but also people should only start being soldiers by choice. Even though he's not addressing it directly, his ongoing unease about LILITH recruiting people who wouldn't choose to be here is underpinning some of his testiness. ]

[ That answer is a pleasant surprise, and knocks some of the vitriol out of him. (Why are there so many people smarter than he used to be, even if this isn't something they chose for themselves--?) There's a short delay before his next response. ]

[ Shinn is still jealous of this objectively awesome no-civilians-around monster-fighting with a side of exploration trip. But under the current circumstances, with this expedition being a chance at an answer but keeping the lights on being a known necessity... well. Choices suck, but Shinn will deal with being on backline duty again. ]
