hi there
i'm still getting used to how all of this works. i know it's late, but... i figured in unfamiliar surroundings, no matter how long you've been here, there might be a few others finding it a little hard to get some sleep, too.

( a pause that doesn't translate to the network, shuffling a bit where she sits cross-legged atop her bed, taking a moment to cast her gaze out to the glittering cityscape. the room itself feels like another world, recently assigned: EVERLIGHT. 022. )

if that's you and you need an ear, or just don't feel like being alone, i'm happy to talk for awhile. i'd love to hear about your home, or maybe your favorite part of it, no matter how small. favorite late night snacks, what sort of drink you'd order if you could choose from anything, or even make up your own... or not talk!

we can hologram, too. and honestly, my door's always open. i probably won't be turning in for awhile. i still have so many questions about this place, why us... but those can wait for another day.

oh, i've also been thinking about maybe setting up some sort of calisthenics class, maybe on certain days in the morning. i used to run one back home. it was awhile ago, but, if anyone might be interested, i know it at least helps me to have something to keep me moving.

I'm in Everlight as well. Room 11. I'll be right over as soon as the tea is ready.

[He'd already made his way to the kitchen during their text exchange, set on making himself a cup even if his offer got rejected.

Going easily through the familiar motions, it takes only a handful of minutes to prep and prepare the tea. And then he's off to room 22 with a tray holding two cups of tea.

Carefully balancing the tray with one hand, he uses the other to knock on the door.]

( typically she's the one offering others a means of escape for longer nights, but then again, it's been awhile since she's had her bar, hasn't it? it's what'd gotten her into the habit of later nights to begin with, pepper in everything that's happened over the course of the last few weeks, and it's only a perfect recipe for warding off sleep. when he does find his way to her room, calling her attention with a soft knock — a few steps toward the small pad beside the entry and a wave of her wrist releases the lock, giving way to the warm smile in waiting upon her brims for him.

it's not long before a softly exclaimed- ) Oh! ( breaks the silence, ) Here...

( clearing her way toward the desk, she shuffles aside the paperwork she'd gotten a copy of from immigration so he can set the trap down, a too-big sweater draped over her frame and a pair of sleep shorts with an everlight strip running down their side. sooner or later she'd have to see about getting her hands on more clothes, but for now, they do just fine.

a dim light leaves the room in a soothing glow, tucking hair behind her ear. )

Izuku, isn't it? ( a beat as she straightens, holding out her hand. ) I'm Tifa.

[Following her into the room, he gingerly sets the tray down on the desk before giving the rest of the room a glance over. As expected, it's identical to his own room as well as the others in the dorm, minus whatever personal touches Tifa has been able to make. Even after months here, his own dorm remains much the same as when he arrived with the expection of additional clothing he's purchased and a few other necessities filling his shelves. Despite his added options he's still wearing his matching Everlight lounge wear. It's just super comfy.

He automatically reaches out to accept her hand, offering a shallow bow of his head in return.]

Yeah. It's nice to meet you Tifa. Are you settling in okay?

( she hasn't had much of a means to personalize the room just yet. more often than not she found excuses not to be cooped up within it, but it's not lacking its comforts. the view alone in each of the rooms was something to appreciate, but allowing herself to indulge even the simplest of things felt a little like letting her guard down. the only small momentum that makes it clear it's hers at all is the photo propped on her nightstand. )

About as well as I can, I guess. ( she does well to remind herself she's not the only one adjusting, that it would likely be more of a permanent state than anything.

once the tea is settled atop the desk, she carefully makes to hand one to him, cradling the other in her palms. the steam curls up in tendrils, delicate, herbal notes of lavender greeting her senses and encouraging a small hum from her throat. )

Thank you again for this, by the way. ( hair spills over her shoulder with a tip of her crown. ) It's really sweet of you.

[Even after months here Izuku still has moments where he can't believe he's here and not back home. Where every moment feels more like an incredibly vivid dream rather than reality. Like he'll wake up any minute now and every thing will be back to normal. The state of adjusting has definitely been a prolonged process in his own experience and he's beginning to wonder if anyone can truly adjust to their circumstances. All they can do is the best they can.

So her response is about what he assumed it would be, and he nods in understanding, while accepting the cup she holds out to him.]

It's no trouble. I was already heading to the kitchen to make myself a cup. [He takes a sip, savoring the warm lavender flavor on his tongue.]
