( a message broadcasts itself to the network: )
hi there
i'm still getting used to how all of this works. i know it's late, but... i figured in unfamiliar surroundings, no matter how long you've been here, there might be a few others finding it a little hard to get some sleep, too.
( a pause that doesn't translate to the network, shuffling a bit where she sits cross-legged atop her bed, taking a moment to cast her gaze out to the glittering cityscape. the room itself feels like another world, recently assigned: EVERLIGHT. 022. )
if that's you and you need an ear, or just don't feel like being alone, i'm happy to talk for awhile. i'd love to hear about your home, or maybe your favorite part of it, no matter how small. favorite late night snacks, what sort of drink you'd order if you could choose from anything, or even make up your own... or not talk!
we can hologram, too. and honestly, my door's always open. i probably won't be turning in for awhile. i still have so many questions about this place, why us... but those can wait for another day.
oh, i've also been thinking about maybe setting up some sort of calisthenics class, maybe on certain days in the morning. i used to run one back home. it was awhile ago, but, if anyone might be interested, i know it at least helps me to have something to keep me moving.

@nadel
big sister yor...
not everyone might be up for something like calisthenics, yoga would be a great option for anyone that needs to wind down, instead, and aren't really sure how or where they can do that here.
would you feel comfortable enough to lead it?
🥹
The talks are a wonderful idea as well. It seems many here lose sleep over training, civilian life, their previous homes, or the kaiju.
no subject
it's sad to hear that, but i guess it's only to be expected
even if they don't want to talk, having these sort of classes to get it out some other way could be a big help. or just... having someone around. i know sometimes that helps me feel more at ease.
do you know anywhere with enough space? i haven't really gotten the chance to explore too much.
no subject
As far as space, I think they have exercise rooms aplenty around here and communal areas with lots of room to stretch out. There are probably private gyms we could rent out in the city as well if we really need more room.
no subject
we'll just have to figure out some kind of schedule... maybe just a network wide announcement would be enough to kick start it.
i'm tifa, by the way!
no subject
An announcement would be great for interest checking, I think. So we know how many people we'll have to account for.
@pochita
i'm not good with talking but i struggle to fall asleep, too.
listening to music helps. it makes me think less as i focus more on the melody.
the un 🥺
sometimes just having someone around can be comforting. or even just knowing someone else is awake too.
what sort of music do you like?
he wants to make pochita feel involved sdhfsd;
it shuts up those loud thoughts.
[ more importantly- ]
... are you feeling sad about being here?
tifa would hug pochita like he dreams of ok.
it actually sounds pretty healthy to me. just like some people workout, you're not really running from it so much as... i dunno, making it all not so noisy.
( a pause, then, at the question that follows. was she feeling sad? )
i don't know if sad is the right word
i think i'm just still trying to understand
they will both get emotional AND IT WILL BE TIFA'S PROBLEM ;;
i had people tell me that was crazy.
[ well, they probably called him that based on his music choice more than anything else, but whatever. he got his validation! ]
trying to understand why we're forced to fight a war that's not our own? or, something else?
look she can handle it??? she's good at that stuff, i dare u
( everlight camp counselor tifa lockhart, everyone. fondly, the topic tugs at a few memories back at seventh heaven, music bumbling through the juke box. )
i guess that's part of it, yeah
i'm also worried about my friends back home. i know they said this is just a "version" of ourselves here, but it's hard to really know for sure.
are you sad being here?
@xXCOLDSTEELXx
She does, however, mention one topic that catches his attention.]
I have cogitated upon the suitability of a candidate's presence here, myself included, yet I have found no correlation. There is a possibility of randomness, yet I consider that theory insufficient as it lacks any basis within acceptable parameters.
Most likely estimate: combat ability.
no subject
on the first day, i had a conversation with another outsider and we thought the same thing. it doesn't make any sense that they would pull us all here randomly, not if we wouldn't serve any purpose or use against the kaiju.
but... do you think that's all we're here for, really?
no subject
[Metal doesn't know that for sure, but he feels like he doesn't have to. If Sonic is here it all but confirms it to him, considering he sees them like night and day. Nobody who wanted one spectrum of the fast-blue-hedgehog would bring the other purposefully.]
@kuzunoha14
I am often up later than I should be, too, I suppose.
I've been here for about six months now. I can't say I can answer all questions you might have about this place, but I can try.
no subject
lately i feel like all i've been doing is asking questions, which i guess is to be expected. from most people i've talked to that've been here awhile, no one seems too upset that they are.
are you... happy, here?
no subject
I don't agree with LILITH's methods of bringing us here. Though I am sure they'd have a lot harder time finding recruits to their cause by just asking, rather than kidnapping us.
My life here is somewhat the same in terms of goals, which is protecting the citizens from threats that they are unable to do so themselves. I am happy to serve them in any way I can.
Practically everything else is different, however. It's taken a lot of adjustment. There is a lot of good and a lot of bad.
It's hard for me to say one way or another if I am happy here. But there are many things, and many of people, that do make me happy.
no subject
but then again, like you said, you've gotten close to people. and so you start to fight with them, to keep them safe. maybe there's some method behind their madness after all.
( the fostered sense of community they try to instill, bunking them all together and assigning them to teams. )
it's just... all backwards. i don't know the full capability of the implants, but i have a feeling not complying might not be much of an option.
either way, i'm glad you have someone, or multiple someones, that make it all a little easier.
i know how i'd feel just having one familiar face from back home
no subject
So far, I don't think I know of anyone who hasn't complied. Some people who were here have vanished, and LILITH tells us they were sent back, with no reason given as to how or why. Just something to keep in mind.
The worst part of the implants so gar as the glitches that seem to only cause inconvenient, or embarrassing problems so far. Like the maid outfits, or our thoughts being broadcast as texts and images to the network as a whole. But who knows what the future might hold.
Thanks. I hope I'm not making it sound too awful. Somehow I mention all that and not the actual missions and kaiju battles. I suppose that's a whole other conversation.
Unlike many others, no one here is from my home timeline, but the other Outsiders have been overwhelmingly kind to me. I'm truly grateful for that.

oh, i wouldn't say i'm either! but i do try to help, when i can.
how are you healing, by the way?
no subject
[ He'll even send her a quick picture of his hand, largely free from the scrapes from before. ]
Ready for a go in the (metaphorical) ring whenever you are, or for this calisthenics class you're offering.
no subject
( just as she'd traced the lines of faded and risen scars along his palm when it'd rested in her own, she does so again with the photo that comes through, pleased to see those that'd been previously angered had softened into his complexion. )
the calisthenics might be more instructing than anything, but i don't mind!
i usually do it most mornings anyway. you should join me tomorrow
i haven't tried my hand at the training area, either. where's the best place to set this metaphorical ring of ours?
no subject
[ As for this ring... ]
Most people use the simulation room for any intense training, but the atmosphere in there is a little....clinical. [ It's just a giant empty room, man. ] There's a small recreation area down on the main floor, but there might not be enough room depending on how wild you want to get.

in the simplest terms, it's like a workout, but using the resistance of your own body instead of any equipment!
kind of teaches you how tricky gravity can be, but it's great for building up strength
more difficult than people think!
no subject
when would these classes take place?
@deku
A calisthenics class sounds really cool. I've never done it before, but I'd be interested in learning.
no subject
i can't remember the last time i actually sat down and made myself some...
it's kind of you to offer. will i not be keeping you awake?
as for calisthenics, i'd be happy to teach you!
it's definitely a get better as you go sort of thing, but it's a great way to start your mornings if you do end up enjoying it.
no subject
I'm still wide awake so it's not a bother at all. Which dorm should I bring it to?
Alright. Sounds great. I've been trying to add more variety to my training. It gets boring doing the same things every time.
no subject
if you're sure, i'm in everlight room 22
( she'd leave the door open if she could; she's still getting used to the telltale hiss of its automatic part when she nears it, recognizing her by the ocular implant tucked into her skull. )
we can chat more about the calisthenics when you get here!
no subject
[He'd already made his way to the kitchen during their text exchange, set on making himself a cup even if his offer got rejected.
Going easily through the familiar motions, it takes only a handful of minutes to prep and prepare the tea. And then he's off to room 22 with a tray holding two cups of tea.
Carefully balancing the tray with one hand, he uses the other to knock on the door.]
no subject
it's not long before a softly exclaimed- ) Oh! ( breaks the silence, ) Here...
( clearing her way toward the desk, she shuffles aside the paperwork she'd gotten a copy of from immigration so he can set the trap down, a too-big sweater draped over her frame and a pair of sleep shorts with an everlight strip running down their side. sooner or later she'd have to see about getting her hands on more clothes, but for now, they do just fine.
a dim light leaves the room in a soothing glow, tucking hair behind her ear. )
Izuku, isn't it? ( a beat as she straightens, holding out her hand. ) I'm Tifa.
no subject
He automatically reaches out to accept her hand, offering a shallow bow of his head in return.]
Yeah. It's nice to meet you Tifa. Are you settling in okay?
no subject
About as well as I can, I guess. ( she does well to remind herself she's not the only one adjusting, that it would likely be more of a permanent state than anything.
once the tea is settled atop the desk, she carefully makes to hand one to him, cradling the other in her palms. the steam curls up in tendrils, delicate, herbal notes of lavender greeting her senses and encouraging a small hum from her throat. )
Thank you again for this, by the way. ( hair spills over her shoulder with a tip of her crown. ) It's really sweet of you.
no subject
So her response is about what he assumed it would be, and he nods in understanding, while accepting the cup she holds out to him.]
It's no trouble. I was already heading to the kitchen to make myself a cup. [He takes a sip, savoring the warm lavender flavor on his tongue.]
Was there something in particular you wanted to talk about? I can try to answer any questions you have to the best of my knowledge.
