@Great Explosion Murder God Dynamight --- [text]
[He normally doesn't bother with network posts. But this was a fairly long time in coming.]
Who here knows about painkillers, anesthetics, or other analgesic drugs?
Most of us have gone through surgery to get additional implants or modifications, or know someone who has, and every fucking time it's the same damn story: "This won't be done with any anesthetics as it's an elective procedure and LILITH is saving anesthetic drugs for life-saving medical procedures."
That's bullshit.
If they're cutting into us to do surgery, it's a damn life-saving medical procedure because we're the ones saving their fucking lives! The least they can do is knock our asses out or numb it before digging in and shoving more crap into our bodies! It's odd as hell a place with this much technological advancements doesn't have a way to create or access a steady supply of painkillers, so it's probably just not on their priority list.
I'm not a botanist or a chemist, but I know medical pain relievers started with plants before it became chemicals derived from them. Coca, thyme, clove, poppies, and curare are some of the original bases. I'm leaving the city next week to try to locate some of these in the wild and bring them back for cultivation. If you want to come with me, meet me in front of the base at dawn next Tuesday.
In the meantime, if anyone has knowledge about this, share it. Just cause they won't help in this doesn't mean we can't.
[ooc: for the record, i'm no botanist, chemist, or medical practitioner myself, but i'm happy to do some research if we wanna go down some kind of rabbit hole with this. feel free to mingle and interact further to share information or ideas if you like. hypothetically, if this succeeds, it would make future reward surgeries less burdensome on the outsiders... unless LILITH's just doing the pain on purpose.]

not yet.
[he won't say it, but he thinks joker's pretty cool.]
che. we'll leave at dawn and get back before nightfall.

tough crowd
sounds good
and if i find anything that might be particularly useful, i'll pass it along
no subject
or you suck.
[at humor. then again, bakugo's a grouch so it's more the tough crowd.]
good. if we're successful, we should try to replicate it, either by growing or artificially reproducing it.
no subject
[maybe he could stop messing around.]
i don't know how finicky any of these plants are yet, but i worked for a florist back home
maybe that knowledge will come in handy
no subject
[honestly nothing's going on right not to prevent the messing around. bakugo's apparently in a casual enough mood.]
a lot of them are hardy. two are the basis for cocaine and opioids. did that florist grow anything unique?
no subject
not really, unless you mean color
it was more about that and the size of blooms more than anything else
but if they're hardy plants, that should make it a lot easier
[aka hopefully no one will accidentally kill anything...]
no subject
start there if you're going to research them.
[that's where he started.
two people already mentioned they had some horticultural experience.]
no subject
[there's a brief gap between messages.]
it looks like most of them are tropical? or wouldn't grow without help
no subject
we've only been here through winter and now spring.
[who knows whether their summers contribute to tropical or not.]
no subject
good point, though
hopefully we won't have to deal with any jumbo venus flytraps
no subject
plants burn a lot easier than a fucking killer whale. i'll take the plants.
no subject
maybe they'll mutate so they're fireproof
[why is he jinxing them like this]
no subject
[nar har har. but really, ren makes a good point. bakugo's seen some fucked-up quirks in his life.]
they're fucking dead already! they can't mutate now!
[if they run into fireproof plant kaiju, ren's going to get a very angry fist through his door.]
no subject
[SURE HE IS... anyway, i hope this happens down the line now]
and it's always possible there'll be more in the future
no subject
[calling him out on that right away. (we shall see.) but it would be fun!]
i'll blow them to pieces regardless.
no subject
but so you think i'm mysterious?
[the fact he says it this way 🙄 ]
no subject
hell no! you're perfectly normal!
[see what he did there?]
no subject
thanks for agreeing after all
no subject
SHUT UP! That's not a compliment!
no subject
i'm flattered
no subject
THE HELL YOU ARE!!
I'LL KILL YOU!! DIE!!
no subject
is it so bad to compliment someone every once in a while?
no subject
if i was going to, i would've!
[except he did.]
no subject
we can call it a slip of the tongue
no subject
slip and die.
