best I can tell they think they've always lived here? in this world I mean. kinda hard to ask too much more than that without looking like you're the one that's insane but man

apparently they've also got backstories for all of us??? so how the fuck am I supposed to know that shit???

anyways. wanted to toss this out there for discussing and strategizing how to deal with this fuckin mess. I figure once we kill this kaiju they'll all go back to normal but

I dunno. be gentle with them. I know that's ironic coming from me but whatever

You make it sound like I'd suggest torturing them.

Hypnotism and exposure to hard evidence of reality, Dante-san. Any images, voice recordings, or videos their friends may have that show their actual selves. Confronting them with the hard evidence likely won't be pretty, but it might work.

I don't know if hypnotism is a good idea, all things considered, but hard evidence... Yeah. That might do the trick.

But maybe something else too. Something they should know. Something important to them that they've forgotten. Something core to who they are and what they want.

Not a bad idea. That generally works for KAN-SEN when Singularities back home mess with our heads. Failing that there's always killing them and waiting for them to come back, but that hardly seems practical outside of our species.

Although I wouldn't fully rule out sharp blows to the head for some people. If it can cause amnesia maybe it'll jump-start the thicker ones' brains back up.

And killing them is definitely not going to be the way to go.

I'm painfully aware of it. The simple solutions don't work with most people.

Although maybe we shouldn't discount the idea of restricting their movements. If they're convinced they're who they think they are, they might think we're the afflicted group.

That could turn ugly.

Yeah, I can see that going bad real fast. Something to think about once the kaiju is taken care of.

LILITH shouldn't mind if we borrow some restraints from them just in case, right? I can't imagine why they wouldn't have any, given how everyone can get.

That might work once we're back in Tokyo, but I doubt we can count on LILITH being able to supply us here.

Hopefully the implants can still incapacitate people. If not we may have to start throwing people in dungeons. We are in a castle after all.

Actually, no, I'm still not okay with that, but you're right that it could come in handy at a time like this.

I have mixed feelings about it, honestly. Can you imagine someone like Silco with free reign?

Besides, without them I would've killed quite a few of the others by now myself.

Beats me. I don't have eyes, so maybe they just went around that and went for whatever circuitry is in my head?

Then in theory if we opened your head we may be able to get it out.

But my opinion? The benefits of being connected like this outweighs the constant tracking and capability to incapacitate us.

Also the risk of doing damage to anyone isn't worth it, of course.

Yeah, I'd appreciate not having anything in my head damaged, thanks. I need this thing to live.

But I do like having this speech module installed. I'm still a little miffed my head didn't come with one to begin with, so I'll give LILITH credit where it's due.

See, it's not all bad. You've gotten an easier way to communicate, I've gotten numerous new ways to destroy enemies. LILITH may not have given us a choice in being here but they've done well enough providing for us.

Although I can't help but be struck by just how incredibly awful your world continues to sound. How the hell do you do your job without speaking?

You're not going to hear me arguing with you about my world, but I can speak to some people. Only twelve, but that still counts as some.

I usually have one person that I go to to help me translate, but lately there's another person among those twelve who's been willing to help out too.

[At least a little. Hong Lu has yet to be Translator #2 in earnest as of Dante's canon point]

So that's why you keep Vergilius-san around then? I had wondered about that, he seems rather diametrically opposed to yourself, personality-wise.

Oh, no. Vergilius isn't one of those people. He's just really, really good at reading me. It's pretty impressive.

A little bit unsettling to know the filicidal man who barely talks can read someone like that, honestly. How do you sleep with him around?

Pretty easily. He's not that bad. Gruff and more than a little threatening, sure. And he did have a habit of scaring the others into silence on the bus there for awhile... But it's not like that now!

Not that bad. We've met the same person right? He's almost as psychotic as I am.

Look. Things where I come from... They're bad, and that's putting it as light as it can get. It's the kind of place that makes attitudes like that the sort of thing that helps people survive.

And it's the sort of thing that'd see me eaten alive if I was out there on my own.

So I can't blame him. I'm not even sure it's my place to do so.

Well, I'd be going back to work so... More of the same? A Manager's work is never done. It'll be nice to see the others again.

You know about other worlds, that life can be better. And you've surely grown to know quite a few powerful people.

No-one says things have to stay the same in your home world.

[ She's not exactly saying Anarchy Smash the System.

But the Sakura Empire certainly wouldn't mind a grateful reality with magically inclined inhabitants, she's sure. As a, uh, "protectorate"...]

Maybe... But I don't know if I'm the right person to make that call, either.

Sure, I know things need to change. I don't like the way things are either. But even if it all gets torn down, someone has to build it back up again, right? And then you have to make sure things don't just end up exactly how they were with the faces changed around.

And that's assuming we can even get that far.

You're assuming you'll have to do it on your own.

You've made allies and friends haven't you Dante-san? I'm sure even the coldest amongst us would be willing to assist.

The Sakura Empire and Crimson Axis fromy my world would certainly be capable of helping with restructuring. Our Wisdom Cube technology would provide a start, unlimited energy tends to make everything else fall into place.
