I'm sure we all heard Gwen's news. It seems that the kaiju has mental effects that the ability to influence memories and emotions. I believe that is the reason for the strange behavior that some of our coworkers have been exhibiting since our arrival.

Since that appears to be the case, what should our plan be? I would like to open this forum to hear suggestions. Personally, I don't believe casting them out will be beneficial to us in either the short or long run.

Thus far they haven't shown resistance to the Kaiju, so perhaps we should focus on eliminating the source of the problem. Once that is done, they should remember who they are without issue. They may be upset, a bit, but...

It is better than driving them away in the short term, especially since we may need their assistance to take out the Kaiju.

I agree. Compromised or not, they still are our coworkers.

Our friends, too. Some maybe even more.

My concern is that...if the Kaiju has already taken root in their minds, then who's to say that they won't be easier to manipulate further?

I know. It's difficult to square it with what could end up being a fight with them.

But remember, you all saved me and the others when we were corrupted by the rift. We cannot simply turn our backs on them.

Perhaps the option is to have some sort of alternative method to contain them. Something to knock them out, should they prove to be fully under its sway later. We may need to be ruthless, and handle them at the first sign of betrayal.

They will forgive us after, I am sure.

I'm also worried about our dear, precious friends and allies but we also can't forget our mission.

Our mission is to fight kaiju and the reason is because they're causing trouble here.
Regardless of what we all believe, we know this to be true because our problems began when we arrived here.
If we defeat the source of our problems, that should be enough. The fairytales will come to an end.

I just hope the monster is the one doing this, and it will rectify the problem.

The question then is, what do we know, and how can we come up with a plan. What relevance does everything we've seen had to this?

A slim possibility, but yes, we may want to.

However, every other time we have been brainwashed, it's resolved itself once the Kaiju has been defeated. That should be our first order, and then preparing for the possibility that we may have to live with our companions having other memories second.

At least they aren't violent, or attacking us.

Well, let's look at the facts. Gwen and her commanders haven't told us anything, so what have we learned? It's been around for some time, since they haven't been able to defeat it, correct?

So it must be particularly old, and crafty, to have evaded any attempts to defeat it. Otherwise, we may have been called before, yes? We've all been doing this for some time.

So something old, at the very least.

My first guess would be that we are could be dealing with what could be interpreted as fairies.

It sounds silly, but the use of unicorns as a symbol, their friendliness towards other animals, and their antiquated lifestyle that’s keeping them closely connected makes me believe that.

[ the shift between the concept that is "muramasa" and the person that is "tasuke" is both easy and disorienting, but manageable. muramasa's been doing it for days now, sifting through the fake memories and the true shape of perfect steel, submerging himself in the former until he is ready to be the latter again. the quenching lasts longer each time, but progress is being made. he doesn't have to pay attention to how easy it is to let the other person be the dominant part of his self instead of the blade, making the decision to change how he thinks is as easy as swinging a hammer.

raised (familiar) voices echoing down the hall drag his attention away from his hunt for unicorn tapestries; the building is old and strange enough that noise travels strangely. they're below him in some gallery below, talking in harried tones when tasuke finally peeks his head through the doorway to see what the fuss is about. just in time to see a muzzle flash and to hear the gunshot from tezcatlipoca's weird, fucked up gun and to see daybit recoil as something hits him straight in the gut.

a servant like muramasa would rush the fuck in, but you know what some shitass 17 year old is going to do in a situation like this? dive for cover and hit post. ]
