adults would have skill and experience that youth, by nature of itself, wouldn't have. deciding which skills and experiences are worth our time would be the part where we'd all disagree individually.

that's why it's paramount to decide on the abstracts first before the literal. does an adult count if they're moral but useless? what if they're reprehensible but skilled? what's the middle ground, do we even need it?

I think the fact that those questions are impossible to answer conclusively is exactly the issue I'm trying to point out to you.

We should just torture anyone we don't like until their behavior improves.
