But, yes, it's about the life essence from the blood moreso the blood itself. However, the more sentient the being the better, so humanoids are more, shall we say, satiating.

Aabsolutely. Take the bear versus a human: while deliciously fulfilling, the bear is still akin to drinking a rank beer and the human a perfectly aged red.

What one consumes or imbibes can change the taste, as can any magical afflictions one may be under. Simple bias for the person may affect it as well.

And correct! Though I have eaten animal blood plenty and absorbed the blood of others through different means.

Yeah. My friends and I have a special power called hemoanima that lets us absorb the blood of vanquished enemies to increase our power.

Exactly! I suppose it's more efficient, but I feel like drinking from someone's neck is far more romantic than what we do.

We just sort of stab them with out infusers? That killing blow draws out all their hemoanima and leaves them mummified husks.

I do not. However, I would have assumed absorbing someone's blood would require it. Now what you're describing sounds much less fun.

That's what I'm saying. It just sort of splatters everywhere and then the power gets... sucked up, somehow, in a metaphysical sense. I'd explain better how it works if I knew, but our commanding officer was killed before he could explain properly how it works.
