@shiro
Did you know there's a museum not far from this base? You can see quite a few treasures on display. I went back for the first time in a long time. Imagine my surprise when I realized one of those treasures was missing...
It doesn't matter if it's a grave, a shrine, or the emperor's treasure chest... thieves will really steal from any place, huh? I wonder what else is lost in this world...
Ah, well, where ever I am, I'm sure I'll be surprised.
( Suddenly he's talking about himself? For those who know him, it makes perfect sense. )
Anyway, what treasures are in your world? If you can tell me a good story, I might give you a surprise.

[That it doesn't bother him is the important part, after all.]
wow, that's one hell of a story! it seems like they were simply drawn to you out of a kind of special connection, huh? almost like a fairy tale romance, hehe! I'm glad they were able to learn about and take care of you like you deserve. that must've been really nice~ even giving you a name all your own. that's a special feeling in itself right there...

"Yato" isn't actually my real name. it was given to me by my first personal shinki. so I know what it's like to be given a treasured name

Then would you say, Yato-san...
Your name is your great treasure?

y'know, now that you mention it... I think I would. I wouldn't give it up for anything, nor change it to anything else. it has a very special meaning for me...

By giving someone a name, you give them a story.
And by being named, your story can be told in a single word.
And for a kami, stories are power.
At least, that's how it is for me.

and a name chosen by oneself speaks to their own personality and tastes
there's something special in every name, I feel

I see.
This is a really wonderful treasure, Yato-san.
Thank you for telling me about your name and sharing your story with me.
I'll be sure to sing a poem for you some time.
