[When the feed cuts on, it may not be clear who it is the camera is focused on, because instead of there just being regular old happy Yato, there's a raging god with dark wisps emanating from his entire being along with red sclera glaring angrily as he seethes. When he talks, his voice drips with venom, low and dangerous.]

Raidou's theory is being proven right - Hiyori got sucked into a rift as well. I'm going in after her, damn the consequences.

[Somebody may need to sit on him...]

At a hotel they had us staying at. I'll send you the address.

[Which he dutifully does. It's a cute themed hotel with different ones on every floor; they got a capybara themed one.]

I'm on my way. Don't go anywhere until I get there, okay?

'kay. I'll wait for you.

[It's only because it's someone close like Vash that he obeys the request, leaving the door unlocked while he merely seats himself at the little kitchenette table, hands clenched into fists.]

( It takes him very little time at all to get to the hotel. He might have run all the way there, clattering through the door out of breath, a little too noisy. )

Yato.

( Relief, as though he'd been certain he'd just disappear in the interim. )

Okay, okay. ( Hands against the kitchenette top. ) We're going to get her back. I just need you to trust me. Don't do anything stupid. She wouldn't want you to.

[Gradually, Yato's head lifts to gaze at Vash with his abnormally colored eyes, fingers flexing - or rather, twitching from agitation.]

Vash...

[To be fair, it took a lot of effort to stay in one place and not dash out in a mad rush.]

R-Right... [He swallows hard, breathing heavily.] I know she wouldn't, but-- I can't not do anything, y'know? I-- I need her, Vash. To know she's safe...

She's going to be. Hiyori's tough, you know that? And she's not going to give up that easily. But it means we have to be smart, because she's relying on us to get to her safely.

( He understands the need to act, he does. It's rare he's on this side of things, the level-headed sensible one. He's not sure he's up to it. )

We have to think first.

Aah... She really is... The toughest human I know, honestly.

[He can't help laughing lightly, although it's somewhat hysterical.]

She's so damn strong. I'm the weak one, really. Always falling apart when something happens to her, losing my cool. Not thinking... How do I do it, Vash...? How do I stop myself from fucking up further?

You're not weak.

( Voice firm on that. )

You're just scared, Yato. Because Hiyori is important to you, and you don't know what's going on. I get it, I do. But if you try and go after her there's no telling where you'll end up. And what if that makes it worse. I'm just asking you to keep still for a little while longer, all right? We need to find an exit strategy first.

Thanks, Vash...

[It's something he needs to hear right now, to keep himself from going down a self-pitying path. For now, he takes a deep breath and nods, slowly.]

You're right. I'm terrified. Of something happening to her, of losing her... Of her hating me for letting it happen... But at the same time I know you're speaking sense. Everything you say is logical and sound. And-- [He laughs again, scrubbing his face.] --I kinda hate that, y'know? It's dumb, but I'm so frustrated...

It's okay, you can be mad at me for it. I know how hard it is, I know you're stressed out. And that's okay, you love her, and loving someone makes things like this terrifying. But you have to trust me, we'll get her back. I'm not going to let either you or Hiyori lose each other.

( He pulls out a seat, sinks down into it, looking at Yato carefully. )

Were you with her? Can you tell me what happened?

I could never be mad at you for trying to help... Especially when I know you're right and I should stay put for now. But yeah-- loving someone really does make you want to fly off the handle. I wish I had your faith, but... so many times she's been in trouble because of me...

[Chuckling, if somewhat humorlessly, he glances away, going red.]

I-- I can't. I mean. I was with her, yeah. We were here, when it just opened up and she basically fell in. I made a grab for her, but I wasn't fast enough...

That's how it happened with Tsurumaru.

( Metal fingers drill against the tabletop, a nervous habit. ) I was the one who saw it happen. It just appeared. I tried to catch him but it was over in seconds. I know how quick it happened, Yato. I know there wasn't enough of a chance. I guess for now all any of us can do is try to prepare ourselves. If it's taking people randomly we need to figure out a pattern. Or better arm everyone so we might be able to get info back.

I wonder if anything like this has happened before we both got here. Like people being pulled through them. Maybe we should ask around?

It's impossible to anticipate and fight against. Fucking sucks.

[For a while, he just watches Vash's fingers, his own twitching faintly.] There must be some rhyme or reason to it, but what...? Not a bad idea about getting everyone to carry transmitters or something, though. Sure as shit can't hurt.

...dunno. That's a better plan than sitting around waiting for more people to disappear. I'd say we go to LILITH first, except they're all but useless right now. Not sure where to start outside of that. Asking random people on the street doesn't seem like it'd turn up much.

No, but there's people who have been here longer than us, right? The Outsiders. So we could maybe try and find out from them. And transmitters, we could see if we have any legitimate engineers around, see if they can't amp up the power.

( Vash could try. His radio earring can only go so far, but if he tinkered a bit more? )

Ahh, that's true. [He perks up a bit, letting his hand drop into his lap.] Some of them have been here over a year. I think Katsuki is among them.

[Little does he know that Bakugo's disappearing soon, too...]

Yeah...! Even if all we get back is slightly more info, that's better than nothing. It's worth a shot, anyway.

Okay, so we don't panic and we find Bakuboom to ask him some questions. Is that a plan? I think it's a plan.

( Anything to keep Yato on the straight and narrow of not falling apart. )

Sounds like a plan to me. It's a start, at least. Even if he doesn't know anything, that's more info that might help us somehow, right?

[Trying to stay positive...! Even if he feels like raging and crying at the same time.]

I'm here for you, Yato. I know things feel scary right now, but we will get her back. Just stick with me for now, yeah?

( He has so many people he needs to handcuff to himself. )

Scary, huh... Yeah, it really does. Thanks, Vash. Truly. You don't know how much I need a guide right now, heh.

[Clearly they need to form a handcuff daisy chain!]

( Rift not big enough to carry them all. )

Well, I'm here. I'm gonna be here. And I will help you get her back, I promise you that. We just need to be smart with it.

[Maybe that's one way to reach inside??]

Heh... Normally I'm a lot more calm and collected about these sorts of things, but ever since me and Hiyori got engaged, I've been scared of losing her for good... Even though I know it's dumb to worry and fret over it.

It isn't dumb!

( That much he's sure of, frantic with it. )

If it were someone I loved like that I'd be the same. And then I know you'd be the one to talk me down about it. That's what friends do.

You think so...?

[It gets a sigh from him that's relieved and yet exasperated at himself.]

Heh, yeah, you're right about that. I'd be here for you just the same if you needed me. Hopefully it's something you won't have to go through, though.

( He huffs out a laugh. )

I guess I should feel lucky I'm so bad at romance. Okay, so. We just need to keep going. We have a plan. We can talk to the science guys. We can figure out working on a signal. We'll manage.

Aw, who says you're bad at it? [He gently nudges Vash with a hand, nodding.] Right... We'll get there and save everybody. We always do, right?

[Except... they didn't in Brasov. There were casualties. Poor Wriothesley...]
