I’m sure you’ve either heard or personally seen how our base is in a pretty shit state at the moment. hopefully you’re done crying about it since it’s time to move on, especially when it’s an opportunity

see the way I see it, home base has a hell of a lot of remodeling on the horizon so why not take advantage? this is a prime opportunity to make it, you know, less shit

you ever had a bright idea for how to improve the place? let's hear it. I know exactly who to bother about getting shit done so I’ll take all the good ideas and see what we can do

of course we’re going to be doing the bulk of work regardless. a lot easier to sell an idea when they don’t have to worry about who’s actually going to be getting it done. might as well add our personal touch to spruce up the place, right?

Someone once tried to take everything from me.
My own sister. Ishtar, Goddess of Love, War and Fertility.
Seven times did I stab her with my spears.
And from her mangled corpse, half her divine authority I took as payment for her sins.

[ She regrets it, but she's leaving out that part. Her intent is to scare him and make him regret the way he's talking to her! If she can kill her own sister without hesitation, she can kill a creepy old man. ]

Unlike you, however,
I do not allow that betrayal to define my entire existence.

[ ... ... ... ... Okay she did for thousand of years and it's only a recent development that she got over it BUT he does not need to know that. She wants to be scary right now!! ]

But this does have the opposite effect of scaring him. Just... Not the effect that she expects.

You can't drop sibling killing into a conversation, and expect Silco to be normal. ]

[ ... That's an unexpected reaction. It's a bad memory, but she doesn't mind sharing it. That is the thing she is most famous for in human history, after all. ]

She wanted to take my divine authority and realm.
At first she suggested I should take a break from my duties,
Go to the surface even though she knew this would make me vulnerable.

When I said no she sat on my throne and proclaimed the Underworld to now be hers.
She then proceeded to demand I give her my authority and leave.

[ Now of course Ishtar's intents had been surprisingly pure, all she'd wanted was to free Ereshkigal from her de facto imprisonment. But look, how had she been supposed to interpret that? The spoiled child of the gods coming down and trying to take from her the only thing she had, her pride as keeper of the dead! The nerve!! ]

[ What's even more surprising, perhaps, is that he doesn't mock her. He doesn't even say anything about Ishtar being the more powerful sister, or that she deserved it.

And what did you do, in response to her betrayal? Bow down? Capitulate?

Or did she take it from you by force?

She did what she always does.
Whined and threw a tantrum until the other gods did what she wants.
Resurrect her in that case.
Well she was dead, so a servant of hers did the whining in her stead...

Is that not always the way with the favored one? It does not matter that they are in the wrong. It does not matter that they were doing wrong. What matters is that they are the ones that are liked, palatable.

And thus, they always seem to come back.

What should she do?! She can't allow for that to happen! Is she to just nod in agreement and reply "yes, you're absolutely right?" She's not going to sleep all night if she does!
