[ on the night leading up to a certain fated day, ishmael takes a long deep breath before pressing POST. ]
For those who've just arrived or who wasn't aware of what had happened last month, we'd had some casualties during our mission in Transylvania. And while two of them had been successful revived, there was one person who wasn't able to make it despite countless efforts.
I have coordinated with Ereshkigal, the goddess of death, and by extension a fellow god of death, Tezcatlipoca. Wriothesley's funeral will be held on the 20th, at a certain beach in Okinawa. I have placed the coordinates down below should you wish to attend. There will be the final viewing of the casket in the morning, and in the afternoon he will be cremated and his ashes will be scattered into the sea, in hopes that he will make a safe return to his homeland in Teyvat.
[ ... ]
This might be ill-timed for some of you. Most of us are grieving and recovering in different ways, and I will not force you to come if you have other pressing issues to attend to. But if you'd like to to put down your parting words for him here or to me privately, I will see to it that your words will reach him.
Otherwise, anyone who's known him - whether as a friend, acquaintance, a brother figure or a confidant - is invited. If you are neither of these, just tell me if you'd like to attend out of respect anyway. Please wear black for the occasion. If you have any other questions, let me know.
...Thank you.
[ ooc: the funeral log is right here. ]

it's time for that to be put to rest, too. ]
Yeah. Of course you can, Choso.
[private, @durante]
private;
At least it's an actual funeral, right?
[ sorry, heathcliff. ]
private;
Yeah. A proper goodbye.
I'll be there.

i didn't know him but i'm sorry that he's gone and that it happened like it did. back in that place, far away from his home
he sounds like a good person that helped a lot of other people and we always need guys like that around
so it's sad that we lost someone like him
i hope if there's anything beyond this life that he's happy there. and that if there are people he lost that he's missing, they're waiting for him.

Can you tell me your name?

The better part of two hours is spent drafting, rereading, and retranslating the following message. He wants to ensure there's no mistakes in language or chance of mistaken offense, which means it comes out very formal. ]
Ishmael,
I know little of the passed one aside from the melancholy I have observed amongst those close to him. To have left this mark upon your hearts and souls speaks to an individual who's end is a great loss to our number and world.
One does not assume things in times as this. As such I would seek your approval in attending one of the shrines near the lair so as to treat with the spirits of this land on your lost one's behalf. It is the least of what I can offer.
My regret for your loss and respect for the departed.
Peace and strength,
Godzilla.
no subject
You don't have to ask me permission for that. Of course you can, Godzilla. Thank you.
I'm sure that... this isn't your first time experiencing grief when it comes to losing a loved one. Is it not common where you're from?
Private
You are welcomed, Ishmael.
Such loss is not as common to me as it once was. The last end of a cherished one I witnessed was I believe two thousand...? Yes, that seems correct, two thousand years ago, when my Brother of Soul fell against an Invader. Then there were many before him. It does not grow easier. Each loss is a wounding to the heart that can take the span of years to heal.
Yet there is a thing of import. So long as fond memory is held of those we have lost they are never truly ended. Passed from this world in body yes, yet part of their soul stays within those that love them. It ensures that come our own end or their entry into the cycles of reincarnation, we meet shall again.
This is what I oft-think. Mothra has informed me it is not far from the full correctness of things. I am unsure if this is a comfort, yet it is all I know of what comes after.

And he knows one of the people that this notice writes about is him. He, someone else, and Wriothesley. They must have been together when they died. It feels right that he's there, even if he doesn't fully understand the implication.
This is Taryon.
I was told I was one of those who died last month, but I don't remember anything about my time before now. If you would have me, I would like to attend the funeral of our fallen comrade.
Could you tell me about him?
no subject
ishmael... hasn't really talked to taryon that much prior to his death, but she does know that he and wriothesley were close enough. considering how wriothesley was a very private guy himself, that says a lot about how much he'd liked taryon. either way, this is going to get real complicated. ]
...Of course.
Wriothesley was an upstanding guy. He's always friendly and supportive to everyone while keeping a certain distance from most of them. Nothing wrong with that - he's always been very closed-off. He was... a warm presence, despite the icy element that he can control. He also had a great sense of humor and very good with kids.
[ ... ]
You would've liked each other.

I only met him briefly. [ And saying Where seems like it's in poor taste since who wants to remember... all of that right now. ] But long enough to see he was a good man.
If there's anything you need assistance with let me know.

And... I won't lie, I have looked into taking us further into the sea by boat and toss the ashes there, but we're already pressed for time as it is. Maybe next time.

@Great Explosion Murder God Dynamight
I'll be there.
[It brings up memories and feelings, both good and sad. He didn't know Wriothesley as well as others, but more than a simple acquaintance.
Regardless of what other people think, Bakugo chooses to believe Wriothesley is back home, with the people he cares about, doing whatever he was doing there. Home.]

I can't take all the credit. If it weren't for Ereshkigal, I wouldn't have gone through it yourself. But you're welcome anyway.

@TYPHON
I will pass. I said my goodbyes already. Anything further was for you.
If you need an out from all the well-wishers, though...

Thank you for approaching me all those weeks ago, by the way. You gods aren't half-bad after all.
@mr. viper; private
Besides, the only gesture that he could offer would be to remember a small piece of Wriothesley's existence in this world. He didn't know Wriothesley well, and they met in somewhat ludicrous circumstances, but the man seemed kind. ]
If you have no objections, I would like to pay my respects. In person or otherwise.
[ If that isn't entirely meaningless. ]
