[That's the part that pisses him off most - that their parents opted to follow a path that left their children bearing such a harsh and painful burden for the rest of their lives. Surely they could've managed without appealing to a kaiju, right...?]
You may be right. Perhaps it's just my own selfishness that doesn't want to bear the burden of their struggles. In that case I'll be sure to drop by from time to time to see how they're doing and to help where I can. I owe them that much.

[ It's likely the parents were once children who didn't know any better. Who knew how many generations that kaiju spent grooming the entire town? But now that the cycle had been broken by their hand, it was their responsibility to ensure the children would be sent down the correct path. ]
They may not appreciate your presence initially, but in time I am certain they will warm up to you.

[Hopefully they can still do some good in the children's lives even after everything that's happened. There's a lot about the outside world they could learn to broaden their horizons and teach them that the way they were raised isn't the only option to life.]
Heh, I hope so. It's not a pleasant feeling, being feared. It gets old after a while.
