Would anyone happen to know if the current illness is capable of being transmitted from Outsiders to this world's denizens? While we seem to be immune, I still wonder about our ability to still transmit it to others.

As for the unknown, it can be terrifying. I'm used to fighting the unknown. This isn't something I can really fight.

But yes, that is one of the more terrifying aspects of the unknown. Something you can't see and don't understand enough to fit in your world view is something that gives a person pause.
Well... at the very least we have ways of dealing with microbes.
