I’m sure you’ve either heard or personally seen how our base is in a pretty shit state at the moment. hopefully you’re done crying about it since it’s time to move on, especially when it’s an opportunity
see the way I see it, home base has a hell of a lot of remodeling on the horizon so why not take advantage? this is a prime opportunity to make it, you know, less shit
you ever had a bright idea for how to improve the place? let's hear it. I know exactly who to bother about getting shit done so I’ll take all the good ideas and see what we can do
of course we’re going to be doing the bulk of work regardless. a lot easier to sell an idea when they don’t have to worry about who’s actually going to be getting it done. might as well add our personal touch to spruce up the place, right?

but yeah assume so. can't even say there's consistency within our own world. but for sure if there was a god with almost no followers their whole life, not sure if they'd even be a god anymore where we're from. maybe touched by divinity but that ain't quite the same thing

huh, that is pretty wild. I'm only familiar with my fellow Japanese gods, so I can't say if our rules and laws hold true for the rest of the world, either
the thing is, gods are born from human wishes. usually it takes a bunch of people wishing for the same thing, but sometimes a single person can have a wish strong enough to give birth to a god. we exist to fulfill humanity's wishes, so when they forget us, we fade away. that's why having followers is so important. they keep us alive
we also use shinki, the souls of deceased humans to fight ayakashi - spirits of negativity borne from humans and Yomi, the underworld. that's our other job besides fulfilling wishes

having followers is similar, which is why I figured having just a few would disqualify you. doesn't quite have to be that people worship us (but it helps), but once you're too obscure to be remembered by humanity, yeah, that's when a god dies. pretty insulated from that at this point though.

sounds like we're not so dissimilar, in that case. I suppose it makes sense that some things are universal or close to it across worlds. that's one reason Hiyori is so important to me. back home, she's my only follower
yeah, exactly. the form they take on is different for each god and soul depending on the name they're given by the god, with some being mundane items like mirrors or armor, while most are weapons of various types. and a god can only name any particular soul once, so their given name is to be treasured and protected

yeah. having only the one though... damn. you gotta get someone to make a piece of pop culture about you or something. that's how gods nowadays are staying alive yknow? theism might be out of style but humans still love stories about us. like I said ain't exactly worship but it's close enough to work
interesting system though. can't say I totally approve but that's just because part of my gig is sending souls onto their afterlife. let them rest and all that before they go get their asses kicked on a spiritual rebirth journey. etc. guess some people wouldn't mind that though. just probably no the ones that end up with me

actually, I tried to make it big as an idol myself once back during the 80s, but heh, I wasn't memorable enough... that's a problem gods suffer where I'm from - being forgettable. although maybe I could have Hiyori become a pop star and sing songs about me...! that might work! hell, I'd even take schoolyard rumors at this point! like saying bloody mary in the bathroom mirror three times to summon her
for what it's worth, they're souls that can't pass on due to having died or been killed under terrible circumstances... we give them a place to belong and a home, along with sealing the memories of their deaths with a new name. it keeps them from becoming corrupted or getting eaten by ayakashi

yeah, that's one reason I wanted to try promoting my image through music! shame about your legends being lost, though. that's one reason to be grateful for the internet these days

it's essentially permanent, since their torment can never truly go away once we've locked their memories up. but at the same time it means they get a second chance at existing, so it's not all bad for them, especially if they're taken in by a kind god
