Sandals or er, sneakers? Is that what they're called? Anything is fine.
Or if anyone has any suggestions on how to prevent surfaces from burning when I stand on them, I would greatly appreciate it.

I do have something here that may work for you, but it depends on how hot it is you're talking about. But I'm a little confused on what you mean by standing on things and setting them on fire. I'm assuming it's an ability that you can't turn off?

i'm not sure about flame resistent.
but the sand usually gets pretty hot so you absolutely want socks.
i know a guy who wanders around the desert with NO SOCKS and then complains about it the whole way.

well no.
ur gonna get sand in ur shoes.
it doesn't matter if they're all the way up to your knees. sand finds a way!
but good thick socks helps keep the sand from rubbing your skin raw which is what you really want to avoid.

I see. So socks are a requirement for closed-toe footwear.

Pardon my ignorance; I've mainly gone barefoot my entire life and I haven't been to the beach before coming here, so I suppose you could say that I'm new to these customs.
