[ Lucy is a bit, let's say, out of sorts after her surgery. She's tried getting up and walking out of the medical bay, but it does her a fat lot of good with her body aching every time she so much as twitches in a way it doesn't like. And that's saying nothing of the sharper pains that serve as the aftermath. ]

someone get me out of here

I can't take another second in here

[ Now, the question is, will whoever answers

A. take her back to her room

B. convince her to stay put in bed

or

c. will she be gone by the time someone shows up and thus be somewhere in the hall in an ill-advised fit of stubbornness? ]

[ The contents of the can are gone by the time she sucks in her next breath. Nowhere near enough to fully dull the pain, sure, but she'll deal with it. Just this is enough for now. ]

The healing one.

[ She sets the now empty can aside before glancing at Taryon as if expecting some kind of scolding. ]

Figured it might be helpful.

[His eyebrows rise.]

Oh.

I've heard of that...what do they do to you?

[He hasn't undergone the surgery, but he imagines it's am implant of some sort.]

They jammed an implant into my...spleen? After injecting something into the back of my neck to help with the process.

[ Just thinking about it makes her wince all over again. ]

[Taryon sucks in air through his teeth.]

Ow? They stick it into your organs? Without anything? [He rubs over his midsection, imagining a large needle jabbing him there. Surgeries don't sound like a good idea.]

Anesthetic is low in supply, so they need it for emergencies.

[ Sigh ]

Unfortunately, an elective surgery doesn't count as an emergency, even if it's for a surgery that will help others in the long run.

What if we get someone else who has those healing powers? They could help with the healing. [Not that Taryon has a list of who has what, but another idea comes to mind.]

I have a basic healing spell.

Probably, but I think any healing would do.

[ She's not sure how it'll work between magical and technological, but it's worth a shot right? ]

I don't need much. Just enough to make me not wanna die while walking back to my room.

[Taryon adjusts his glove and tugs it down his wrist as he concentrates his magic to the tips of his fingers. When he feels that the Cure Wounds spell is strong enough, he holds it over Lucy's midsection.]

Where's the worst of it?

[ She points to the back of her neck, near the base of her skull, and to her side where she's been bandaged up from the spleen implant. ]

These two.

[He lowers his hand over Lucy's side, and the air around her grows warm. Magic seeps into her organs, sewing together damaged issue and speeding up the healing process, though the pain will have to be processed by her body normally. He does the same for the back of the neck, patching up the punctured skin.]

[ She tenses up in spite of herself. He's helping. She knows it, but still her body takes tremendous effort to keep still and not lean away from him. Actual magic is one thing she hasn't fully exposed herself to yet, so the knitting of skin and inner tissue makes her skin crawl. She keeps her hands tightly clasped together while he works. Jaw set, fingernails digging into the meat under her knuckles, and her breathing heavily regulated. ]

[When he pulls his hand away, the worst of the damage has been managed. It's now up to Lucy's body to get her back into fighting condition.]

That's all I can do. Did it help?

[His hands grip his knees while he watches her.] We could really use a cleric for things like this.

Way less annoying than the surgery was. [ The false bravado in her smirk is mostly for her own sake. Saving face. Calling something as blindingly painful as that surgery "annoying" helps to mitigate the awful memory of it. And, of course, his magic has her feeling loads better. She can actually loosen her hands from each other, and she visibly relaxes. ]

[His shoulders sag as he sighs in relief. It's a minor compliment, on the surface, but it's a sign of gratitude.]

Glad I could make it a little bit better. [He watches Lucy for a moment, wondering how she got the strength to go with this. The idea of surgery makes his skin crawl, and if he can help in other ways, he'll aim for that first.] Need something else to drink? Do you need food?

I think I'll be alright for a bit. Not super hungry, and they do bring water regularly.

[ She could probably tolerate a nap here, when she thinks about it. Mostly because the relief from constant pain makes it more apparent how exhausted she is. ]

My own bed will be heaven after this, I'm sure.

[Taryon nods, and stays. Lucy looks tired enough to fall asleep, so he will wait until she can be left alone.]

I'll stay here for a while long, if that's alright. I need to check some messages.

[ She flops backward onto the provided pillow. The relief is instant, soothing. She sighs as she drapes her arm over her eyes. ]

If it's not a bother to you, I guess I don't mind.

[ She should probably check hers, now that the thinks about it. Later, maybe. ]
