@Great Explosion Murder God Dynamight --- [audio]

[In the morning, around 10am, last week of September, a video feed blinks onto the network. Bakugo sits on a couch in front of a window, his reflection looking back at him from the window beyond. Wearing a simple all-black t-shirt and sweats combo like he's usually in, a small white pattern on the side of the shirt.]

Hey.

[Despite his rough voice, he sounds... controlled.]

What happened in Seoul sucked. We all have opinions on each of the results that followed. I'm not here to say who's right or wrong or to shove blame around. I want to talk about how to move forward.

What can we do better? How can we prevent something like Seoul from happening again? I've thought about it and thought about it, but I don't have all the answers. What went wrong, where I messed up... I'm not content with my level right now. The Outsiders are a team. Even if we don't have complete control over our directions, we still support each other. That's what I believe. So I'm asking you.

[Right, time to get on with it.]

1) â–¶ Should we split up or stay together?

On future missions, we shouldn't split up. Even if we have to face two kaiju in the same battle, we're better together. Last time, we were divided and only one half had military backup. I'm not saying to rebel against LILITH, but if a choice comes down to split up or stay together, no one knows us more than us.

[ooc: please note, this isn't to be taken as encouraging a coup to lilith's orders. rather it's an ic discussion about the benefits and detriments of dividing the outsider force during missions, then possibly compromising on future battles.]

2) â–¶ How do we improve our fights against the kaiju?

We need to take the kaiju down faster. The longer they rampage, the more collateral damage we take. We know their weaknesses, but we're not fast enough. We need a better strategy to take them down. A lot of our powers are strong on their own, but could grow stronger working off each other. Tell me what you can do; if you're not good at strategizing or don't want to, there are Outsiders who can work with that.

[ooc: there have been posts about this in the past, but consider treating this as an avenue for potential team ups or creative combos. if you're not good fighting on the front lines, team up with someone who is while you cover their backs or support from the rear. develop a one-two combination attack with an ally to use for the next kaiju fight to fish for higher damage. transform the spread offense into a focused blitz. go wild.]

3) â–¶ Can we use the kaiju's habits against them?

These kaiju continue attacking the cities. Has anyone figured out why? The orcas flooded the bay to hunt, the geckos came for Tokyo's electricity, that damn worm lured Vegas citizens as violent incubators. Who knows what the hell the dragons wanted. The rifts aren't regular enough to be a beacon. If we can figure out what draws the kaiju, we should use that to either take the fight to them or lure those monsters away from the cities.

[ooc: general kaiju habit discussion here. maybe they won't be able to prevent the kaiju from attacking the cities in the future, but at least talking about potential strategies to cull damage to city and populace is encouraged.]

4) â–¶ Our limitations.

I'll keep this short, so listen up. A lot of our powers were screwed up when we came from our home dimensions. But LILITH is able to completely shut down an Outsider's abilities through the oculars for as long as they want. I'm sure you can figure out why they'd do that.

We weren't brought here only to kill kaiju. We were brought here to save this world. But we're not perfect, and we're not able to do it alone. We have to work together to surpass where we are now.

By the way, for whatever damn reason, some Outsiders' oculars are getting interference and texting is messing up right now, so keep it to audio if you can or they might miss your response.

[This is probably the calmest some people have ever seen Bakugo, but this is also very serious and he means it. Hardly a curse word up there. The video is on repeat, so people can replay it and join in the discussion like an extended game of telephone tag.]

[OOC: Please note, there's zero intent for a rebellion or civil war to happen in the overarching community plot, so a coup isn't on the table. But not talking about what happened would be strange. So... Group mingle! Feel free to have your characters read a text-based transcript of the video as an attachment below the posting. This mingle log is audio by default, but obviously you can transition to text as you like. Comment to others, thread-hop as permitted, etc. Of course you're not required to beholden to the sub-post topics; they're just there for categorizing. The form is there for people to use if you want!]

Dan Heng || @dragontales (I had this written up but then DW ate it...)

Good idea to have this all in one place.

Power:
- Spear fighting: My weapon, Cloud Piercer, is of a high quality make that helps speed up my movements and slow down that of others when they are struck with it.
- Cloudhymn magic: Essentially hydromancy. I can control water to attack, bolster movement, or even fly to an extent. Some temporary invulnerability and speed are also possible with this. I can conjure a dragon shaped out of water to fight alongside myself or whoever needs it.
- Imaginary energy: this one is harder to explain. Through this I can conjure waters as if they were from the sea of my birthplace. However, it is...easier to have a nearby source of water instead, as doing this for extended periods takes much more focus and energy than just using what's there.
Type: Much of my power aligns with the paths of hunt and destruction. I have...a sister who can heal with cloudhymn magic, but I am not capable of such. So. Offensive, mainly, with some support capability for mobility and cover.
Range: Flexible.
Team Ups: I am also flexible, as I've worked in many team makeups. I can provide cover or backup, or help maintain the front line. I am not much of a combat leader or strategist, but I can follow orders. I can grant temporary invulnerability and speed to another individual for a couple minutes, something I discovered I could do recently.
Bakugo, I will fight alongside you or offer support whenever. I also see there is someone with fire and ice abilities. Perhaps we can bolster each other's abilities, as well as some other strategies like cloud cover or an. Ice dragon maybe. Could be interesting.
Other: ((OOC time. I'm trying so hard to reconcile viddy game mechanics with RP.... Idk if it's ok to show like. Battle animations? I'm sure he can be seen doing stuff like this in simulation runs.
Battle animations, timestamped to the invuln thing and combat but the rest is good too, since it shows him floating and just. Making rain happen? Ok.
Example of support capability, making a platform out of water for someone who would have otherwise fallen.
Dan Heng acting quickly upon receiving instruction in combat, giving backup in executing a difficult mission, even if it meant injuring an ally...still caught said ally when he fell though so like. Yeah. Can do the teamwork thing.

Hope this helps!!))

So you're a heavy hitter, I take it? How would you like having more opportunities to attack or fly around?
lunarchivist: (Hm?)

(Hello!!)

[personal profile] lunarchivist 2024-09-27 07:10 pm (UTC)(link)
[Sounds like how Orion ((trailblazer/ game MC)) would put it. This is...not a bad thing.]

Oh. Yes, I suppose that term applies.

Absolutely. Is that something you can help with, Mr. Goldilocks?

My powers lie in granting powers to others. Apart from what I mentioned, I can alter parts of your body to better fit your environment or make you more nimble. Perhaps, if you have the time, I can improve your spear with magic?
lunarchivist: (Think)

[personal profile] lunarchivist 2024-09-27 09:19 pm (UTC)(link)

Oh, good. My powers take large amounts of energy, even more so in this strange other world; an extra supply would be very generous and helpful, thank you.

Hmmm...are these physiological changes temporary? Even so, it could be beneficial to not have to focus on keeping my tail intact, even for a time.
Er. To clarify, many but not all of my kind are born with a dragon's tail. I was born without, but I can make one out of water. It's very helpful for balance.

........hm.

[His knee jerk reaction is "Yingxing would kill me", but he knows that's not...his own thoughts. And Yingxing is dead. What's left has already been trying to kill him.]

I'm not opposed to you taking a look sir. It's just...

[An old proud blacksmith, a friend, rolling in his non-existant grave-]

Cloud Piercer has always been with me, since before I can even remember. Is it alright if...

[Calm down. We can't do any worse than what Dan Feng already did to him. And he's not here... ]

Is it alright if I remain in the room to watch? I am interested and I do not mean to doubt your abilities, sir, it's just.

[A gift.]

I'm rather attached to it.

Sometimes a bit of extra speed is enough to save you.

You are correct in that they are temporary, within the range of a few minutes up to an hour. The physiological changes are on the longer end of things. It would be rather inconvenient if a disguise lasted only a few minutes! What would you prefer to be done with your tail? Turn it into horns? Shift its weight into the rest of your body?

[What could a guy with a tail possibly want? Claws? Buff arms? Gills? He has to come up with something useful so that Dan Heng will keep him around for more than one fight.]

No, that's understandable. It's an important weapon that requires the utmost care to be taken of it. I wouldn't mind if you wanted to watch me at my craft, either.
lunarchivist: (Smile!)

[personal profile] lunarchivist 2024-09-30 08:08 am (UTC)(link)
I agree. It could make the difference between life and death.

Ah. Hm. So. I am…well. If you could make the tail real instead of a conjuration of water, it could help me focus on using imaginary energy for fighting. That amount of time is plenty, thank you. I had…no idea so much could be done, however. I’ll have to think on it…

[For a guy who spent most of his life trying to hide his more dragon-like qualities, this is…still alot to take in and process. Not bad just. Wild. ((ooc: oh no Taryon your self worth….sobs))]

Thank you for your understanding. You do sound very knowledgeable and skilled in your craft, it’s an honor to work with you, sir. We should meet up sometime to discuss details, I think. I imagine you have a workshop? I can come visit, whenever works best. [Dan Heng has no sleep schedule. He will adapt to whatever, especially when someone is making such a kind offer.]
likemybooks: Taryon looking over blueprints and grinning (excited)

[personal profile] likemybooks 2024-10-01 04:29 pm (UTC)(link)
If you come up with an idea for how the tail looks, that would help a lot. Otherwise I'm thinking something like a lizard tail. [There are dragonborn in Exandria; Taryon's family had such servants as well. It should be perfect!]

My workshop is in my room. Redemption wing. There should be plenty of space for you as long as you keep an eye out for the roombas.

How about we meet up right now and I take a look at your spear? That way I can come up with a few ideas.
lunarchivist: (Look side)

[personal profile] lunarchivist 2024-10-03 03:27 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, absolutely. I can form an image out of water that might help. Lizard like is indeed a great basis. [It's funny because Dan Heng is technically a dragonborn! Just with less scales. And no snoot.

Roombas...?
] Sounds good. I'll be right over, sir.

Thank you.
